Preparation for Individuals

Preparation for Individuals

Our CPAs and staff accountants are well-versed in preparing individual tax returns.  Both for individuals and certain business clients, the Form 1040 is likely the only return that will be filed.

For that reason, it’s imperative that you find an accounting firm with the tax planning experience to help you discover the most advantageous ways to file.  At Whittaker & Associates, our accountants will find the best way to minimize your tax liability and maximize your savings over both the short term and the long term.

Our individual tax preparation and tax planning services may also include the following:

Electronic filing and document storage. Whenever possible, we favor electronic tax preparation and filing, because refunds are processed more quickly electronically.  We also use a sophisticated tax program that allows us to file returns in all cities and states, so we can meet your needs wherever you (and your income) are.  We scan and store all records electronically and securely so they’ll be easily accessible in case of an audit.

Retirement accounts. Our CPAs and accountants can help set up your retirement accounts, from simple Roth IRAs to the most complex defined benefits plans.

Organizational assistance. We send out organizers every year to help you keep track of important data you’ll need for your tax return.  We also send our clients booklets to keep them apprised of any changes in tax law that might affect them.

Estimated tax payments. If you’re required to make estimated tax payments on a quarterly basis, we can help you arrive at the smallest amount necessary to meet the filing requirements while still avoiding penalties.

Other tax liability. In addition to federal and state income tax (in states outside of Florida), our accountants will help you determine whether you’re required to file any other returns—for example, a gift tax return—in any given year.

Again, we encourage you to keep in touch with us throughout the year, and to keep us informed of any developments that might affect your tax liability.  We want to hear from you so we can make sure we’ve considered every issue in your tax preparation.
